Spy-Cam-Glasses

Yeah i know, you can buy those on every corner of the Web now, so this comes a little late, and additionaly isn't even finished, but for the hack-record aka the hackord, here it is:

  • grabbed a cheap Pinhole-Camera from Ebay for about 20.- €
  • extended the cable length of the Audio/Video/Power-Cable of the Camera (that lead to some problems like bad sound)
  • grabbed a portable movie-player from Archos with video-recording function for 50.- €
  • grabbed an extra video-connector that you need to attach a cam to the archos-player for about 20.- € (baaaaad product design, fuck archos for that shit)
  • grabbed a battery-pack for the camera-power-supply for 2.- €
  • hot-glued the camera to some sunglasses
  • connected the cables
  • put the whole recording-stuff in a backpack and the glasses with the cam on my head, cables leading into backpack
  • hit the record-button
  • recorded what i saw while running around
  • mission complete

Problems:

  • bad sound due some soldering issue with the cables
  • the archos-player has no Hold-Button, so you can accidentally hit the STOP-Button and it stops recording in the middle of the action (fuck archos for that one again, they want you to buy their official helmet-cam that has an extra hold-button, afaik)
  • the cable-salad was not really good for action

Anyway, that was a 92.- € pair of spyglasses, the cheapest consumer-version on the market at that time was about 400.-€.


Nowadays (2009) you can get much cooler gear for less money, no cables, direct recording to SD-card.

Überbleibsel aus der Vergangenheit:

  • 109€ nur Brille mit integrierter Cam, ohne Recorder
    • Früher musste man noch ein Kabel von der Brille zu einem externen Recorder legen, heute wird eigentlich direkt auf SD-Karte aufgenommen. Alles andere ist umständlich. Für HighQuality würde man natürlich auch heute noch teure Profi-Lösungen ab 1000€ aufwärts verwenden, aber das wollen wir hier nicht. Wir wollen eine Cam zum spielen, abrocken und kaputtmachen (Zerstörung der Kamera ist nicht das Ziel, es aber sollte keinen Gelduntergang darstellen, wenn "dat Ding" unter Extremsportbedingungen auf den Boden klatscht).
